Child and Family Strengthening
Too often, it’s the children who pay for the mistakes of adults. As a provider of Child Welfare Services, it is the County’s sacred responsibility to confront and address suspected incidences of child abuse and neglect. Supervisor Nathan Fletcher knows that kids who go through persistent “Adverse Childhood Experiences” (ACEs) without proper interventions can face lifelong negative outcomes such as mental health trauma, chronic illness, low life potential, and even early death. That’s why he is leading the effort to change how the County can better protect and meet the needs of children and families in our community. He is working alongside community partners and experts on the Child and Family Strengthening Advisory Board to identify policies and programs to build a more responsive system that ensures all children are protected, safe and thriving.
