MORE VETERAN & MILITARY SPOUSE HIRING WILL HELP SAN DIEGO COUNTY CONTINUE TO THRIVE

Earlier today, BG Ivan Denton (retired), Director Office of National Programs, U.S. Department of Labor Veterans’ Employment and Training Service met with local veterans to discuss ways to improve veteran transition and employment opportunities in the San Diego Region. The 17 person roundtable was hosted by the San Diego Military Advisory Council (SDMAC) and San Diego County Supervisor and Marine Combat Veteran Nathan Fletcher at the County Administration Center.

to report out on the solutions discussed with the veterans and

The roundtable with Denton came on the heels of the Chair Fletcher and the Board of Supervisors voting to pass policies to open a new veteran support facility in East County and expand the number of veterans hired by the County of San Diego; an initiative Supervisor Fletcher first discussed earlier this year during his State of the County Address.
Organizations that participated in the roundtable included: VA San Diego Regional Office, Navy Region SouthWest, Jingoli Power, County of San Diego Human Resources, United Association of Plumbers, Steamfitters, and HVAC Representatives from Congressman Mike Levin’s Office, Zero8Hundred, San Diego Veterans Coalition.
