NATHAN FLETCHER WEIGHS-IN ON GOVERNOR NEWSOM'S CARE COURT PASSING THE CALIFORNIA STATE ASSEMBLY
08/31/22
Nathan Fletcher, Chair of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors, issued the following statement in response to the California State Assembly approving Governor Gavin Newsom’s CARE Court proposal:
“As a County, we support trying new approaches to help people manage their behavioral health and CARE Court is a new tool we can use to help people struggling with serious mental injury and addiction get off the streets, into treatment and on a better path,” said Chair Fletcher. “CARE Court will not single-handedly end the behavioral health or homelessness crisis, but it comes with an opportunity to build and reinvest in the services needed for success. I fully support Governor Newsom’s CARE Court proposal and look forward to working with him, and our local leaders to better serve those who most need our help.”
