Letter from Chair Fletcher: Commemorating Pride Month 2021

Happy Pride Month, San Diego!

Our County is proud to be home to a vibrant, powerful LGBTQ+ community which is marked by a truly inspiring history of resilience, activism, joy, and celebration. While our County continues to make strides towards becoming a more inclusive, equitable place for LGBTQ+ folks, it is essential that we go further to create additional protections and services for the folks most disproportionately marginalized within the community. Even further, we call upon Congress to finally pass the Equality Act, the Biden Administration to build upon existing protections for LGBTQ+ Americans in the U.S. and abroad, and to ensure America truly lives up to the ideals of equality & opportunity.

Now, and always, we stand with our fellow community members who are part of the LGBTQ+ community and reaffirm our commitment to the full extension of their own justice and equality under the law and their ability to live their lives with pride and security.
