Tiny Gardens for growing vegetables will be assembled and distributed by Chair Nathan Fletcher of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors in partnership with Bayside Community Center and New Roots Community Farm on Wednesday, April 20, 2022.

One hundred Tiny Garden bags along with soil, a tomato plant, cilantro plant, drip tray, tomato cage, and watering can, will be given away between the two distribution sites (50 at each location). The individuals who will receive the Tiny Garden bags are being recruited by Bayside Community Center and New Roots Community.

“This is the second year in a row my office has partnered with Bayside for this Tiny Garden giveaway to celebrate Earth Day,” said Chair Fletcher. “The garden bags are a great way for people who live in smaller spaces to grow their own vegetables.

“Countywide, we are fighting food insecurity by empowering communities to grow fresh healthy vegetables in their own neighborhood. We are working with local organizations and providing funding for them to open community gardens.”
