Program to help lower-income San Diego residents buy electric vehicles expected to launch next year

Delayed more than a year amid the pandemic, a state program designed to help lower-income Californians buy electric vehicles got funding approval last week to launch in San Diego County next year.

The California Air Resources Board voted on Nov. 19 to approve a funding plan that includes $5 million to implement the Clean Cars 4 All program in San Diego County.

County Board of Supervisors Chair Nathan Fletcher said the air resources board vote puts the county “one step closer to making electric vehicles more affordable for families, particularly those who live in neighborhoods hardest hit by air pollution.”
