Statement: Supervisor Fletcher’s Reaction to Board’s Tri-City Vote
I will never waiver in pushing for solutions that meets our regional behavioral health needs. Today our Board committed $23.8 million in funding to stabilize the situation in North County by working with responsible and committed partners, including Palomar Health. We also heard from other hospitals that all work tirelessly to fulfill their obligation to deliver emergency behavioral health services and stand with the county as partners in tackling our regional challenges. In contrast, Tri-City continues to fail to acknowledge any obligation to provide emergency behavioral health needs to the patients in their area. While I support staff continuing to negotiate with Tri-City, it is important to note that these efforts are essentially at the same place they were a year ago.
