Supervisor Fletcher Supports Co-locating Mental Health & Substance Abuse Services; Board Vote is Supportive
The Board’s vote on Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) facilities today ensures better attention to community concerns about safety surrounding MAT facilities are addressed, accountability is upheld and enforcement can be carried out. This action will also increase access to substance use disorder programs and ensure patients in San Diego County receive the highest quality of care. When co-locating mental health therapy and MAT services in facilities where other primary care medical services are offered, we are better able to provide complete care to patients—that’s what we will do at the Regional Behavioral Health Hub. This is the better way to provide behavioral health services. I am pleased the Board is supportive of this approach.
