Supervisor Fletcher has Pride for Rainbow Crosswalk in his District
San Diego County Supervisor Nathan Fletcher is proud of San Diego’s first rainbow crosswalk to honor the history, culture and importance of the LGBTQ+ community of the region is located in the Hillcrest neighborhood, in the 4th Supervisorial District.
“We are so lucky in San Diego County to have an incredibly powerful and strong LGBTQ+ community,” said Supervisor Fletcher. “I want to thank Councilmember Chris Ward for driving action to bring the rainbow painted crosswalk to Hillcrest. This crosswalk symbolizes the road that’s been travelled by so many to ensure our LGBTQ+ community have the opportunity to live with dignity and respect.”
Supervisor Fletcher believes it is important to celebrate the positive impact the LGBTQ+ community has made on local business, government and our neighborhoods like Hillcrest and elsewhere for decades.
Last year Supervisor Fletcher, together with the County’s LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group, hosted Shine Bright with Pride, a celebration to light up the County Administration Center with the colors of the rainbow for Pride Weekend, and honor local LGBTQ+ heroes. The County also flew the Pride Flag over a County building for the first time ever for National Coming Out Day.
