Supervisor Fletcher Congratulates Incoming Board Chair Cox, Thanks Outgoing Chair Jacob for her Leadership
Supervisor Nathan Fletcher today expressed appreciation for Supervisor Dianne Jacob’s leadership as Board Chair last year, and congratulated Supervisor Greg Cox on becoming Chair in his final year of service to the San Diego County Board of Supervisors.
“Supervisor Jacob set an assertive tone early in her final year as Board Chair,” Supervisor Fletcher continued. “She managed meetings with poise, and her leadership showed how we can start tackling the big issues of our time: housing and homelessness, mental health and substance abuse.”
“I want to congratulate Supervisor Cox on being selected as Chairman of the Board for 2020,” said Supervisor Fletcher. “The residents in our districts have similar needs, and it was an honor to work with him during my first year to advance policies to help immigrants, children and families. As Chairman, he’ll be a voice of reason; and I am looking forward to the year ahead.
During his first year on the Board, Supervisor Fletcher partnered with both Supervisors Jacob and Cox.
Supervisors Fletcher and Jacob partnered to put the County on a path to having a Community Choice Energy program and protect our youth from the vaping illness outbreak. Supervisor Cox and Fletcher teamed-up last year to provide a temporary shelter to migrant families seeking asylum, and started to transform the child welfare system as Co-Chairs of the Child and Family Strengthening Advisory Board.
The changes to the Board’s leadership structure happened during an organizational meeting held at 9 a.m. Tues., Jan. 14, 2020 before the regular meeting agenda began.
As Chair Pro Tem Supervisor Fletcher is asked to run the meeting if both the Chair and Vice Chair are absent from the meeting.
Also, Supervisor Desmond was named Vice Chairman of the Board.
