Deported Veteran Advocate Nathan Fletcher Praises Biden Administration's New Policy
Nathan Fletcher, a U.S. Marine combat veteran and Chair of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors, praised President Joe Biden for his Administration’s plan to bring deported Military Veterans back to the United States. Fletcher has spent many years fighting for the rights of deported veterans.
“President Biden followed through on his promise to correct our dishonorable immigration practice of deporting veterans; I truly appreciate his commitment to changing this unjust policy,” said Fletcher. “As someone who’s worked on this issue for years, it has always been an uphill battle, but now the road to repatriation is cleared for these heroes.”
Fletcher established the Honorably Discharged, Dishonorably Deported advocacy group to assist individuals who were promised citizenship if they served in the military, but were later deported unfairly. Over the years he has been instrumental in helping drive legislative changes, securing pardons from governors and bringing previously deported veterans back to the United States, most notably, Hector Barajas. Fletcher was also featured in the 2019 documentary, “Ready for War” which shined a spotlight on the deported veteran issue.
