Chair Fletcher Encourages Community to Support Active Recreation at Waterfront Park
Join the San Diego County Department of Parks and Recreation’s virtual public meeting <https://www.sdparks.org/content/dam/sdparks/en/pdf/Development/2021%20WFP%20Public%20Access%20Meeting%20Flyer%203.pdf> on Thursday, April 15 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. to learn about final concept plans for active recreation at Waterfront Park.
Chair Nathan Fletcher during his February State of the County
highlighted several new opportunities to activate the underutilized
northeast corner of Waterfront Park at the County Administration
“I’m passionate about expanding opportunities for families to enjoy the outdoors together. There is nowhere better to start than in our backyard -- the County Waterfront Park,” Chair Fletcher said in February.
To maximize the underutilized area, the plans being introduced on Thursday include: a dog park, outdoor basketball, pickleball, t-ball and wiffle ball fields, and outdoor chess tables.
The county did extensive community outreach and distributed surveys to the community to gain input on how to best utilize the areas of the park that often go unused.
