SDG&E to give county $100K to help pay for firefighting software



The county Board of Supervisors on Tuesday voted to accept a $100,000 grant from San Diego Gas & Electric to help pay for technology that allows authorities to better analyze and monitor wildfires. The grant will be awarded to the San Diego Fire-Rescue Foundation, a nonprofit that partners with the county, and then to the County Fire Authority, according to a statement from Supervisor Nathan Fletcher. The money will augment the contract the County Fire Authority has to use the cloud-based visualization software Intterra, according to Fletcher’s news release. The Intterra software will help the Fire Authority to analyze and monitor incidents within its area of operation, decrease response times and be more efficient when fighting fires, according to Fletcher’s office.  READ MORE
