NEW CHILD AND FAMILY WELL-BEING DEPARTMENT CONTINUES CHANGES FLETCHER STARTED IN 2019

The County of San Diego 2019 has significantly improved how it delivers services to children and families after Supervisor Nathan Fletcher and former Supervisor Greg Cox made changes to ensure County Supervisors were more engaged and accountable. On Tuesday Supervisor Fletcher and the Board of Supervisors established a Child and Family Well-Being Department to continue delivering change that started four years ago. 

“This new agency is the culmination of everything we have been doing over the last four years,” said Supervisor Fletcher. “Central to this new agency are the fundamental changes we have been implementing. I am excited to see the evolution of the Child Welfare Department into the new Child and Family Well-Being Department.”

During his 2022 State of the County Address, Supervisor Fletcher was able to announce all 88 recommendations by a working group to improve the County of San Diego’s Child Welfare Services were completed. Other changes since 2019 have included:
