County leaders announce plan to help cities with homeless services

05/09/22

San Diego County Board of Supervisors Chair Nathan Fletcher shared details on the standard Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the region’s cities for homeless services, making $10 million in grants available to cities to kick-start their efforts.

The county is set to execute the MOA between the 18 incorporated cities to provide behavioral health services, county public health education, and relevant communicable disease screening tools to the shelter operator and one Human Services Specialist to provide services at shelters.

“I hope all 18 of the incorporated cities partner with us,” said Chair Fletcher. “Later this month, we’ll double down on our commitment by making $10 million in one-time funding available to help cities build new shelters. Knowing in advance this funding will be available, I encourage all cities not to wait but to start getting your plans together now.”
