FREE COLLEGE, CAREER & BASIC NEEDS FAIR FOR STUDENTS & ADULTS ON SATURDAY, MAY 21 HOSTED BY CHAIR FLETCHER & AVENUES FOR SUCCESS AT HERBERT HOOVER HIGH SCHOOL

05/18/22

Chair Nathan Fletcher during his 2022 State of San Diego County Address discussed preparing our next generation workforce to be able to support their families, and he has partnered with Avenues for Success, Hoover High School and the Social Justice Academy with funding from the San Diego Foundation to host The Village United: a college and career fair that will feature workshops and basic needs resources for high school students, and adult members of the San Diego County community. The free college and career fair will take place Saturday, May 21 in City Heights at Herbert Hoover High School, 4474 El Cajon Blvd. from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

“Every young person, and adult, has different needs when it comes to education and figuring out their career goals; this event will provide an environment to help both figure out what’s next for them through the workshops and the connections they make,” said Chair Fletcher. “We want to help individuals have thriving careers and provide access to resources to support people achieving their best quality of life in San Diego County  as possible.”

“When supporting students in planning for their future, it is critical that we also address the basic needs they and their families have in the present moment. This event will be a space to share resources and college and career opportunities. We hope that youth and their families, who have been hit the hardest by the pandemic, can be on a path towards a better future,” said Rocío Zamora, Director of College Enrollment, Avenues for Success
