Supervisor Fletcher Hosts 2nd Community Budget Forum May 21 and Youth Forum May 18
Supervisor Nathan Fletcher will host a Youth Budget Forum on Saturday and his second Community Budget Forum in District 4 on Tuesday, May 21. The Forums help to increase public involvement, bring more transparency and educate constituents on the recommended $6.21 billion budget.
“The County budget is about funding services that meet the needs of our constituents,” said Supervisor Fletcher. “By offering the public an up-close look at the recommended budget we help them to better understand the funded priorities and provide the community the chance to guide our decision-making for the final budget.”
On May 18 the Youth Budget Forum will be at Laborers International Union Hall, 4161 Home Ave. San Diego, CA 92105 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
On May 21, 2019, Community Budget Forum will be at Johnson Elementary School, 1355 Kelton Road San Diego, CA 92114 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Materials will be translated into Spanish, Somali, and Vietnamese. Spanish interpreters will be translating the entirety of the event.
District 4 residents interested in receiving more information about either budget forum can contact Supervisor Fletcher’s Director of Community Outreach, Heidi Martinez: firstname.lastname@example.org, 619-531-6002.
The Forum held in April was attended by about 150 people, and these Forums, are the lead-up to the Evening Budget Hearing with the full Board of Supervisors, the unanimously approved proposal brought forward by Supervisor Fletcher. It will be held June 13, 2019, starting at 5:30 p.m. at the County Administration Center, 1600 Pacific Highway, San Diego, CA 92101.
